I NEED AIR TO BREATHE AT NIGHT: 2025-ongoing
Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA) is a disorder where breathing starts and stops during sleep. Treatment often includes CPAP (Continuous Positive Airway Pressure): A mask that uses air pressure to keep the airway open.
This work is a personal collection of the six feet tubing used since my diagnosis in my early twenties and continues to grow each time a tube needs replaced on my CPAP. The work acts as a diary; the tubes are clouded over time from my breath. The form will continue to grow due to the repetition of my suffocation.
The physical exaggeration of the tubes’ excess renders the CPAP Machine useless, yet exhibits access that is normally denied through its length and location.
