Dear Body: 2021

Dear Body is a photography documentary project that works as an extension of a conversation that I had been having with myself, my artistic practice, and the people around me. My experiences as a fat person have greatly influenced the opportunities and the ways in which I interact with myself and how I am allowed to interact with the world.

I reached out and made public posts online searching for people who were interested in modeling nude as well as writing a letter to their body afterwards. The focus is on the diversity of bodies and capturing the model in realistic ways: their comfort level being naked for a camera, the way their skin stretches, the ways their rolls lay, and skin variation in general. The second part is documenting that person’s relationship with their body through a letter they have written addressed to their body-  a love letter, a declaration of hate, or anything in between.
